Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which blood tests do I need to fast for?

Common tests that require fasting are

    • Fasting glucose
    • Fasting triglycerides
    • Insulin
    • Glucose tolerance test
    • Pregnancy glucose tolerance test

Any other test that may require fasting, will be indicated when you add it to the cart

Your doctor may request other blood tests that may require you to fast. If you're unsure about what to do, check with your doctor or us

  • Why do I need to fast before taking some tests?

After having a meal, changes occur in blood, especially in levels of Glucose, Lipids and Iron.

A fasting period of 10 – 12 hours, ideally overnight, reduces the variability in the levels of these substances, among others, in the blood.

This ensures that your test results are not influenced by your latest meal, and can be interpreted correctly by the laboratory and doctor

  • Can I have anything to drink?

Water is fine if you are feeling thirsty. However, your other favourite beverages — like tea or coffee, will have to wait until after the test

  • Can I take my normal medications?

In most cases you can continue to take your normal medication as scheduled, especially if this is what you have done for previous tests. If you are unsure check with your doctor.

Certain medications can affect the results of fasting blood tests, so it's up to your doctor to decide what is best for you.

  • What happens if I don't fast?

It's necessary to follow the fasting instructions in order to get accurate test results. Many tests are used to diagnose a medical condition, such as diabetes, so inaccurate results could potentially lead to unnecessary tests or a wrong diagnosis.

If you do eat during the fasting period, it's important to inform the person doing the blood test or the phelobotomist who collects your sample at your location, so they can make a note on your record.

  • What kind of sample will be taken for testing?

Most often, all that is required is a blood sample. However, samples of urine, sputum, semen, and other bodily fluids and tissues are also tested based on the tests prescribed.

  • Who will collect my sample?

We'll send one of our experienced phlebotomists and medical personnel to collect your samples at your location

  • Can I upload a Presciption?

Yes, if you are unsure about the contents of the doctor's prescription, it is wise to simply send us the prescription, we'll book the tests on behalf of you, and collect your samples. Upload Now

  • When will I get my reports?

The time it takes for test results to be available depends on various factors, such as the type of test and sample, the method used and as per the turnaround time (TAT) communicated. It may take a few hours or up to several days to be reported.

You can find the the Turnaround time required to perform some tests when you add it to the cart, your reports should be ready to be viewed online within that period

  • How do I know if my COVID report is valid

The sample processing and reporting will be as per ICMR guidelines. You can check the Specimen Referral Form (SRF) ID in the report which is unique for every patient.
